Since 2016, Be.Time SCA has been running various artist-in-residence programmes, non-formal education projects, training courses and workshops to teach about ecological relationships, creatively proposing new possibilities for coexistence and regeneration.
In the meantime, and increasingly since last year, through other actions in education and activism, we are trying to expand and communicate the knowledge generated by our local PERMACULTURE network to the local community. FINCA CATALINA – ASOC. ALMENARA is a hub for this network which is experimenting in sociocracy for the governance of its resident community and in the consolidation of distributed and ephemeral communities. The experiments carried out in this location have a lot of potential for impact in imagining, designing and building a regenerative future.
Be.Time, PÁRPADO, transformed its cultural activity during these years, due to climate change and ecosystem degradation in our local area. From art production and exhibitions to ECO-SOCIAL ENGAGED ART via place making, people care and education.
With this experience, we joined a European consortium together with other cultural companies, independent research groups and academics in the EMCCINNO project, Empowering Creative Industries to Drive Systemic Innovation for Sustainable Climate Transition (2025-2028).
Under the name PÁRPADO and the slogan “dreaming on the threshold,” at EMCCINNO we propose the development in Vejer of a series of contexts and resources that seek to contribute to the regeneration of landscapes and imaginaries; rural processes of knowledge creation and the regeneration of collective memory. We use art as a tool for community activation, without limiting ourselves to any specific discipline or aiming for a predefined artistic outcome.
Across Europe, EMCCINNO is rooted in five transformation sites — diverse cultural ecosystems where experimentation, community, and creativity flourish. Each site is a fertile field for prototyping new ways of thinking, making, and connecting. Together, they form a constellation of local action with translocal impact.
BeTime SCA
Vejer de la Frontera, Spain
Located in rural Andalusia, BeTime provides a space focused on slowness, reflection, and place-based learning. It supports artistic projects through residencies, land-based practices, and community engagement, promoting more sustainable approaches that take into account the more-than-human world.
La Friche La Belle de Mai
Marseille, France
A former tobacco factory transformed into a cultural hub, La Friche combines artistic creation with civic participation. It addresses ecological challenges and collective social transformation.
Jazz ao Centro Clube (JACC)
Coimbra, Portugal
JACC develops community arts projects centered on improvisation, jazz, and collective experimentation. Rooted in Coimbra’s local culture, it fosters connections between music, territory, and democratic innovation.
KÖME – Association of Cultural Heritage Managers
Budapest, Hungary
KÖME operates at the intersection of cultural heritage and innovation, using cultural memory as a driver for sustainable development. The association works with museums and public spaces to position cultural institutions as key actors in ecological and social transition.
ZK/U – Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik
Berlin, Germany
ZK/U is a hybrid institution bridging art and urban development. It supports artistic residencies, research, and grassroots initiatives, transforming artistic practices into practical urban solutions and promoting creative approaches to city management.

EMCCINNO is coordinated by the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), lider by Aix-Marseille Université (Marseille) (AMU) and funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program under Grant Agreement No. 101178706.
